Trade mark registration in 5 steps:
1. Resarch
For a trademark to be successfully registered, we always conduct a (free) trademark search.
This allows us to quickly identify any issues if they arise: other companies with the same trademark, a descriptive name, or any of the many other reasons that could lead to a rejected trademark application.
2. Subsidies (optional)
The European Union allocates millions of euros in subsidies at the beginning of the year for European SMEs that want to protect their intellectual property rights.
We are happy to handle the application process for you, which can easily save hundreds of euros!
Currently, applications are closed. February 2025 they will open again.
3. Description & Location
A trademark is always registered in different classes and in one or more jurisdictions (countries or regions such as the UK or the EU).
The company and its product/service, as well as the target market, are analyzed to determine how the trademark will be registered and where the registration will take place.
4. Application procedure
The application procedure takes approximately 3-4 months. Once a registration is submitted, the relevant office (UKIPO, EUIPO, etc.) evaluates whether the application meets the requirements (for example, the trademark must be sufficiently distinctive) and then approves it.
Before the trademark is officially registered, there is an opportunity for others to file objections.
5. Done!
After the application is approved and no objections are filed (or if they are successfully nullified or withdrawn), the trademark is registered.
The months of effort have paid off, and your brand now bears the R symbol: Ⓡ
More about Trademarks
What is Trademark registration?
Trademark registration is the best way to legally establish the reputation of your brand. Others cannot misuse the unique feeling that customers associate with your brand.
A registered trademark means that your company name or logo is officially recorded with a government office and legally holds the monopoly to use that name.
Why Trade Mark Registration?
The exclusive right to use your trademark® provides legal certainty and deters competitors with malicious intentions, effectively thwarting troublesome copycats.
Owning the intellectual property of your company name and/or logo is essential. It offers advantages in legal disputes and when using (web)services from third parties.
